Preview Classes for Financial Peace University (Free!)

  • Time: Sunday, June 28th-11:30 AM to Noon OR Tuesday, July 7th- 6:30 to 7 PM
  • Place: Vineyard Church of Cedar Rapids (5101 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids)
  • Dates:  Choose the date and time that works for you!
  • What this class is about:  This 30 minute preview-class gives an introduction of FPU, allows you to meet the teachers and ask questions.  There is no obligation to register for FPU after attending this preview-class.

What is Financial Peace University and who is it for?

FPU is a 13-week life-changing program from Dave Ramsey (see DaveRamsey.com) that empowers and teaches you how to make the right money decisions to achieve your financial goals and God's plan for your life. The course includes practical lessons on eliminating debt, building wealth, giving like never before, and much, much more! 

FPU is for EVERYONE!  We welcome anyone who would like get control of their finances to this class!  On average, Financial Peace University participants have paid off over $5,300 in debt and saved $2,700 during this 13-week program!  

When do classes start and how long is each class session?

Classes start on Tuesday, July 21st.  They will run for 13 weeks on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm at the Vineyard Church of Cedar Rapids.   

What are the subjects covered in each lesson?

  • Lesson 1: Super Savers - Teaches the importance of saving money and how to get the best return on your money. 
  • Lesson 2: Cash Flow Planning - Will teach you step-by-step how to put together a zero-based monthly budget and walk through how to complete all of the financial management forms with samples included.
  • Lesson 3: Relating with Money - Is about the importance of working together in relationships and how we handle money.
  • Lesson 4: Buying Only Big, Big Bargains - Teaches Dave's personal techniques on how to negotiate and get the very best deals when buying something.
  • Lesson 5: Dumping Debt - Teaches how to get out of debt and stay out of debt.
  • Lesson 6: Understanding Investments - Teaches the difference between stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CDs, annuities, and where you can get the very best return on your hard-earned money.
  • Lesson 7: Understanding Insurance - Will help you learn the types of coverages you need when it comes to health insurance, homeowner and car insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance.
  • Lesson 8: Retirement and College Planning - Teaches about the new Roth IRA, about how much to put into your SEPP and 401(k) or 403(b) plans and how to best fund your child's college education.
  • Lesson 9: Buyer Beware - Warns you about how you are being marketed to and teaches you the keys to developing the power over purchases.
  • Lesson 10: Real Estate and Mortgages - Will teach you the best way to buy and sell a house, the difference between a 15- and 30-year mortgage, and the best ways to finance a home.
  • Lesson 11: Careers and Extra Jobs - Teaches the importance of doing with your life that which you love.
  • Lesson 12: Collection Practice and Credit Bureaus - Teaches you how to check and clean up your credit report and deal with collection agencies.

How much does Financial Peace University cost?

Each family that attends Financial Peace University must purchase a member kit. Member kits cost $100 per family. After a membership has been purchased, you, your spouse, and your children can attend FPU classes for life!  Member kits include:

  • All 13 lessons in an audio CD library.
  • Dave Ramsey's personal testimony on CD.
  • Three months of zero based monthly budgeting forms on CD.
  • A financial snapshot progress form.
  • A complete set of financial management forms, including samples.
  • All 13 fill-in-the-blank FPU lessons to work through with Dave during the classes.
  • Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Revisited book.
  • The envelope system.
  • Two debit card holders.
  • Access to the Member Resource Center online, where you will find helpful financial tools.
  • A graduation certificate upon completion of the class (You must attend 12 of the 13 classes in order to get a certificate).

How can I get more information about Financial Peace University?

Attend one of the preview classes.  Each preview class is just 30 minutes long and it will give an introduction of FPU, allow you to meet the teachers and ask questions. There is no cost and no obligation to attend the orientation class.   We have two preview classes that will be at the Vineyard Church of Cedar Rapids:

  • Sunday, June 28th , from 11:30 am-Noon
  • Tuesday, July 7th, from 6:30-7:00pm
